Your child's best behaviour and best effort are expected at all times.
The classroom will be open at 8.30am. Children should not be at school before this time as there will not be a teacher on duty to supervise them.
Students are expected to get themselves ready for the day. The children know they need to bring into class their take home folder, bring in their water bottle and crunch and sip food, change their home reader, put out their chair, put their alphabet chart and name tag on their desk, sharpen pencils and go to the library if they need to.
The children's take home folders must be at school every day as they will be used to carry class information, home reading books and spelling words.
ALLERGIES - There is an increasing number of students in the school with food allergies. In particular, we request that no foods containing nuts of any kind are sent to school. We ask you to be mindful when sending food to school for lunches, snacks or providing whole class birthday treats. The school has a policy of no sharing of food between students.
ABSENCES - In the event of any absence from school a note or email needs to be sent to cover that absence. This is a legal requirement.
SCHOOL UNIFORM - Full school uniform is required. We also ask that any extras [ribbons, tights, hair clips etc] be kept to school uniform colours. “No hat - No play” applies all year round at Winthrop Primary School. Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with child’s first and last name.
INTERVIEWS - Interviews are available at any time. Please come and see me or send a note or an email to make an appointment. If at any time I am concerned about your child's progress or behaviour I will contact you to come in and discuss it. You are most welcome to come into the classroom before or after school to see what the children have been doing.
RESOURCES - Could you please check with your child occasionally to make sure they have all the necessary equipment.
WORK STANDARDS - The children are to aim for their personal best. Please encourage them to 'be the best they can be'.
BUDDY CLASS - Our buddy class this year is Yr 5 - Mrs Hartley/Mrs Davidson. Throughout the year we will be participating in programs and special activities with our buddy class. This is an excellent opportunity for children to be in a position of leadership and to have experience in helping others to learn.
To develop a safe, secure, caring, happy learning environment that fosters;
- feelings of self worth
- individual pursuit of excellence
- responsibility
